19th Century oil painting on board of Francois Gerard by Henri de Nolhac. This is after the original done by Thomas Lawrence and held by the Musee de l'Histoire de France, within the Palace of Versailles. Overall the painting is in excellent condition with no major defects to be noted. Signed verso "Henri de Nolhac".

"Henri Girauld de Nolhac is the son of the academic Pierre de Nolhac and Alix de Goÿs de Mézeyrac. He grew up at the Palace of Versailles, of which his father is the curator.

Henri de Nolhac embarked on painting, mainly painting portraits. He is also an illustrator, especially for the Stella collection. On December 27, 1920, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, he married Jeanne Cottin, daughter of Colonel Émile Cottin and Berthe Salleron, great-granddaughter of Édouard Hostein.

He was distinguished by the Academy Prize in 1942[2] and the Order of the Legion of Honor"
